Understanding the difference between inter-parental conflict and domestic abuse is one of the most challenging areas of practice for professionals working with families. Getting it right matters, as it directly influences assessment, decision-making, safeguarding and the support families receive.
This webinar shares Tameside Children's Services' experience of implementing ARDAT - the Amity Relationship Dynamic Assessment Tool - and the learning gained through introducing a structured, evidence-informed approach to conversations about family relationships.
Delivered from a practice perspective, colleagues from Tameside will reflect on why they introduced ARDAT, how it has been embedded within frontline services, the challenges and successes along the way, and the difference it is making to practitioner confidence and consistency of practice.

why differentiating inter-parental conflict from domestic abuse matters;
Tameside's implementation journey and key learning;
how ARDAT supports reflective practice and professional judgement;
early insights into assessment, supervision and decision-making;
considerations for local authorities interested in adopting a similar approach.
ARDAT has been developed by Amity and is currently being evaluated through a community-based participatory research partnership with the Rudd Centre, University of Cambridge.
