Projects and Partnerships

At Amity, we believe that the strongest evidence is created when research and practice work together.

Implementation and impact of ARDAT in frontline children's services

We are currently leading a Community-Based Participatory Research Project in partnership with Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and The Rudd Centre, University of Cambridge, led by Professor Gordon Harold.

The project is evaluating the implementation and impact of ARDAT (Amity Relationship Dynamic Assessment Tool) in frontline children's services, exploring how evidence-informed tools can:

  • improve practitioner confidence and decision-making

  • support earlier identification of parental relationship distress and domestic abuse

  • strengthen consistency across services

  • improve outcomes for children and families

This collaborative approach places practitioners, local authorities, researchers and families at the centre of the research process, ensuring that the evidence generated is grounded in real-world practice and directly informs future service development.

As a broker between research and practice, we are committed to developing evidence that is both academically robust and practically useful for the workforce.
